What is Discovery Kidz?

Discovery Kidz is where kids and parents learn together about God, faith and virtues!
It is a weekly, 45-minute, fun, interactive, multi-media shared experience designed for families.

When is Discovery Kidz?

Discovery Kidz happens EVERY Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the DK Theatre (except certain holidays).

Where is Discovery Kidz?

Discovery Kidz takes place in the Discovery Kidz Theatre at Discovery Church.

Who should attend Discovery Kidz?

Kids (Kindergarten through 5th grade) AND their parents. We ask that all kids attend with a parent.

Why does Discovery Kidz exist?

From the beginning days of our church, we have held one belief that relates to our children’s ministry:

• “What happens at home is more important than what happens at church.”

It is for this reason that we feel that one of the best things we can do as a church is to “partner with parents” and equip them to lead their kids spiritually.

Discovery Kidz exists to partner with parents. We believe that parents are ultimately responsible for the spiritual development of their children (Deuteronomy 6:4-9).

We also recognize that parents have a whole lot more time with their kids than anyone at church. In fact, each year kids spend about 3,000 hours with their parents versus the 40 or so that they will spend attending church on Sunday. As a result, no one has more influence over a child than his or her parent. Because of this, we believe that what happens at home is more important than what happens at church.

We believe that it is our role to partner with parents by providing a plan that will give them the tools they need to lead their kids spiritually. This plan is launched weekly at Discovery Kidz.

What do you teach in Discovery Kidz?

We talk about God, Faith, and Virtues. Virtues are something that every parent wants their kid to learn. We would like to say that we came up with these ourselves, but actually, they are God’s ideas, such as self-control, honesty, patience, and gratitude.

There is a different Virtue each month, along with a Bottom Line, that is the over-riding theme in Discovery Kidz and 2:52 Street. Every element of Discovery Kidz and 2:52 Street is centered on these Virtues.

How do Discovery Kidz partner with 2:52 Street?

These two environments are synched together to provide the best experience possible for your family! The same kids that go to Discovery Kidz also attend 2:52 Street. In both of these environments, they are learning about the same Virtue and Bottom Line. Discovery Kidz is a weekly, shared experience for families that launches the Virtue for the month.

2:52 Street happens every Sunday during the main service. It is where kids meet in small groups with other kids their age and connect with an adult small group leader. Each week they are taught a different Bottom Line and Bible story that focuses on a different aspect of the Virtue.

What do I do with my preschooler during Discovery Kidz?

Your preschooler is welcome to come to Discovery Kidz with you; however, they must sit with you in the chairs. Preschoolers are not allowed to sit on the floor with the Kindergartners-5th graders at ANY time during the show. We have found that preschoolers stay more focused and more content if they remain with their parents.
